FAQ

Handles & Knobs

What is a cc measurement?

A cc measurement is simply the distance calculated from the center of one screw hole to the center of the other screw hole on the door, drawer front, or handle. Sometimes it's also referred to as a center-to-center measurement, and the measurements are always given in millimeters. Knobs, for natural reasons, do not have a cc measurement as they only involve a single screw hole. If you have a kitchen or a dresser where fittings have been previously installed or if your doors are pre-drilled for handles, you can easily measure the cc measurement on the door to find new handles that fit your setup! Cc measurements follow a standard frame where all are divisible by the industrial measure of 32mm, such as cc64, cc96, and cc128. However, there are some older exceptions that are much rarer today, such as cc78 and cc87.

Tip! If you find it tricky to measure from the midpoints of the holes, one trick is to instead measure from the inner edge of one hole to the outer edge of the other hole; the result should be the same!

Are screws included when ordering handles and knobs?

Absolutely! Screws with M4 threads should always be included when ordering handles and knobs that require screws for installation! If the order includes a furniture fitting that also needs another type of screw for mounting, those should also be included in the delivery! There should also be a field under all handles and knobs where you can specify the thickness of your doors or drawers, allowing us to adjust the screw length so that the screws fit perfectly when they arrive at your home!

Tip! If you plan to mount a knob on the wall instead of on a dresser or in the kitchen, please let us know when placing your order, and we will send a screw post instead of an M4 screw! The screw post allows you to mount any knob with M4 threads directly into the wall, turning the knob into a hook!

Do you have leather handles or leather-wrapped handles in other cc measurements, such as c/c 87 or c/c 192?

We do not stock these currently, but we are very flexible with our leather handles, and almost any handle in the store can be customized with your choice of leather! If you want leather-wrapped handles in cc 87 or cc 192, that’s no problem, and if you have ideas about wrapping another handle, we can do that too! We currently offer four different leather colors: black, brown, cognac, and natural, and they can be applied to any handle! We are more than happy to accept special orders and personal ideas to create unique leather handles for our customers! Please contact us with your thoughts and ideas, and we’ll work out a solution!

What metal is used in the handles and knobs?

Most handles that are described as being made of metal are made from a zinc alloy, often known as Zamak. This is the most common metal choice for kitchen handles and knobs. If the handle or knob is made of another material, it is usually specified in the product description. For example, we have many kitchen handles in brass, knobs in porcelain, and fittings in aluminum and wood. Note also that there is a difference between fittings that are stainless and those with a stainless steel look, as well as brass and brass-colored.

If you are very sensitive to nickel, you should avoid kitchen fittings made from the common zinc alloy. Almost all of our fittings have a surface coating, which means you rarely touch the metal directly, but if you are still unsure, we suggest our nickel-free range of handles and knobs!

How do I take care of my leather handles in the best way?

Leather is a natural material, and no leather handle is exactly like another. Our leather loop, leather-wrapped handles, handles with cross-stitching, and handles with leather pieces are all made from Eco-certified, Swedish leather from Tärnsjö Garveri. Leather from Tärnsjö Garveri is of very high quality and works very well as handles on dressers, kitchens, and wardrobes. However, leather is also a material that ages naturally and is affected by light, moisture, and wear. The leather itself is saturated and has very little absorption capacity for moisture, but it can darken with repeated contact with water. Our suppliers of leather handles do not recommend any specific handling method for the handles, but if you want to polish them after some time, regular leather care products for furniture should work excellently! We believe that a significant part of the charm of leather handles is the natural patina!

How do I take care of my metal handles in the best way?

We have handles and knobs in many different metals, and most of the fittings are lacquered over the finish to protect the fitting and prevent aging. This means you will never need to polish the handles or maintain them in any other way. On the contrary, to protect the surface lacquer on the fittings, we recommend cleaning our metal handles and metal knobs only with water and dish soap.

Most of our brass handles also have a clear lacquer to prevent the brass from aging naturally, so you won't have to polish the fitting. Here too, we recommend only water and dish soap for cleaning and never any brass polish, such as Häxans, as this can remove the lacquer and cause the handles to become stained. However, we also have unlacquered brass handles for those who appreciate the natural patina of brass, and for these handles, polishing agents can be used to polish the brass over time!

How do I take care of my wooden handles in the best way?

Our handles and knobs in oak, beech, cherry, pine, walnut, and other types of wood are mostly lacquered at the workshop. After the wooden knob or handle is shaped, a thin clear lacquer is applied to the fitting to protect against moisture and other external influences. This means you will never need to oil the wood or maintain it in any other way. However, it is important to keep in mind that wood is a natural material with a natural aging process that changes and/or darkens over time. Additionally, different types of wood and different parts of the tree can result in different conditions and rates of change. Therefore, we recommend our customers clean our wooden handles only with water and dish soap to protect the surface lacquer and ensure a long lifespan for their wooden fittings.

Do your kitchen handles fit my IKEA kitchen?

Absolutely! Handles for kitchens, wardrobes, dressers, etc., follow a standard when it comes to cc measurements (the distance between screw holes), which should be the same across all kitchen suppliers on the market. However, IKEA does not always specify the same measurements for their handles as, for example, Marbodal or Ballingslöv. Some categorize their handles based on the total length of the fitting instead of the cc measurement, but if you check the cc measurement under the product, you will often see that they still fall within the standard.

So absolutely, if you have a kitchen from HTH, Kvänum, IKEA, Marbodal, Ballingslöv, Nordanro, Epoq, Kvick, Vedum, or any other kitchen supplier on the market, you can buy handles and knobs from us!

How do I install the handles in my new kitchen?

Many people believe that a carpenter is needed to install handles on their kitchen cabinets, but it is not difficult at all! To install handles on a drawer or a door, you only need a few tools that most DIY enthusiasts have at home, namely a screwdriver and possibly a drill. If there are already handles on your cabinet doors, you can easily unscrew them with a Phillips screwdriver and then screw on your new handles with the screws that we include in the delivery of your new fittings!

If your kitchen is completely new and the doors are unbored, you will need to make holes in the doors first. Use our handy and simple template for handles to mark the holes on drawer fronts and doors. Then drill the holes at the markings with a 4mm drill and screw the handle using a screwdriver and the included M4 screws.

Which center-to-center measurement do you recommend?

When it comes to choosing the center-to-center measurement, it is really only a matter of preference. However, if you want a recommendation, the 96mm and 128mm measurements are very good as there are many handles available in those sizes. By choosing a more common measurement, you will have many handle options to choose from if you want to change them in the future!

Where are your products manufactured?

Our products are manufactured all over the world. A large portion is made in Sweden, but we also have products manufactured in Germany, Austria, the USA, Poland, Spain, Italy, China, and Finland. If you have any specific product in mind, please don't hesitate to ask us!

Custom Order Drawer Inserts

How do I order custom-sized products?

How to order our custom-sized products:

1. Measure the width and depth of your drawer as accurately as possible. The width is from side to side (e.g., right to left) and the depth is from front to back in the drawer.
2. Check the tables for our custom-sized products and see which intervals your measurements fit within.
3. Select the width interval for the product and then enter your measurements in the field under "add to cart."

If you find it tricky to measure and understand the width intervals, don't panic! Feel free to email us at kontakt@itsdesign.se or call us at +4613-10 10 05, and we will assist you!

What does width interval mean?

The width interval on the item indicates the range of measurements within which we can cut the drawer to width. For example, for the Visio cutlery drawer, the width interval is 375-430 mm. We can cut it to be as narrow as 375 mm and as wide as 430 mm, but any measurement in between will also work well.

These measurements come from the fact that when we purchase this size, the cutlery drawer is 430 mm wide, which is the maximum width. If we cut as much as we can from the drawer without damaging any compartment, it becomes 375 mm.

If you have a kitchen drawer with an internal width of, for example, 398 mm, you will find this measurement between 375-430 mm, which is the width interval you should choose.

The depth (front to back in the drawers) of our cutlery drawers is always the same regardless of the width interval you choose. All Visio cutlery drawers are adjustable from 440 mm up to 523 mm in depth, so if your measurement is between 440 mm and 523 mm, the drawers will fit well in depth!

Can I choose the compartment layout in my drawer?

Unfortunately, you cannot choose the compartments in the drawer. We do not manufacture the products and therefore do not decide how the drawers are designed. Our customization is done around the compartments in the drawers and thus does not affect which compartments remain.

Do I have the right to return custom-sized products?

According to the Swedish law, there is no return right on custom-sized products as they are considered special orders. However, we sometimes choose to accept returns on products we have customized to ensure our customers feel secure when measuring and ordering custom-sized items from us. If the measurements are very unusual and the cutlery drawer or mat cannot be reused, we may not be able to credit the item or may only credit 50% of the original value. Please feel free to ask us if you are unsure.

Can I send a sketch of how I want my drawer?

Unfortunately, we do not manufacture the cutlery drawers; we purchase them pre-made in various sizes and colors. We then trim the edges to fit almost all drawers on the market, but we do not choose the compartment layout or models.

If you have your own ideas about how you want your drawer to look, we recommend our Base wooden interior series, where you can combine parts exactly as you wish. If you have an idea of how you want the wooden interior but find it tricky to put together, just contact us, and we will make a proposal for you!

Can I get faster delivery?

Absolutely! If you choose the "express shipping" option at checkout, we will ship your order the same day if it is placed before 2:00 PM on a weekday. If the order is placed on the weekend, we will prioritize your order on Monday.

This only applies to items in stock. If any of the products have a different stock status, such as 2-4 weeks, that timeframe will apply.

Payment

How do I pay for my order?

At checkout, you can choose to pay via PayPal for worldwide orders and Klarna for payments within European countries. Klarna offers invoice payment, card payment, and installment options.

I don't want to pay via Klarna, can I pay in another way?

Absolutely! At checkout, you can choose to pay via Paypal if you do not want to pay via Klarna. Additionally, if you contact us, we can also offer prepayment via our bank account.

Returns & Complaints

Can I return my order if I am not satisfied?

Absolutely! According to the law for distance purchases in Sweden, you have the legal right to cancel a purchase within 14 days, and that of course also applies to us! For fittings (handles, knobs, door handles, furniture fittings, and hooks), we offer an extended reflection period, giving you a total of 30 days return policy on everything! This is because sometimes you want to see how the style works with your kitchen cabinets, which center-to-center measurement feels right, or just if the knobs really fit your dresser. If you regret a purchase, please contact us first, and we will let you know how to proceed with returning your products!

However, an exception to the right of withdrawal applies to custom-sized and special-order drawer inserts. We customize cutlery drawers and spice drawers to your exact measurements, and in those cases, the right of withdrawal does not apply as it is a special order. If there are any issues with the delivery or a measurement error, please contact us, and we will try to resolve it as smoothly as possible!

Do I have the right to cancel custom-sized products?

According to the Swedish law, there is no return right on custom-sized products as they are considered special orders. However, in some cases, we have chosen to accept returns on products we have customized. This is to ensure our customers feel secure when measuring and ordering custom-sized items from us. If the measurements are very unusual and the cutlery drawer cannot be reused, we have chosen to credit only 50% of the original value. Please ask us before returning, and we will let you know if a return and refund are possible in your case.

How do I make a return?

For returns within Sweden: If you wish to return your products, contact us and we will send you a return label by email. Attach the return label to the package and drop it off at the nearest Schenker or Postnord agent. Please include the return form with the reason for the return. When we process the return, a fee of 49 SEK will be deducted from the credit for the return cost.

For returns outside of Sweden: Contact us and we will assist you with the return information.

I have made a return, when will I be refunded?

We process returns as soon as they are received, and refunds are made in the same way the payment was made. If you paid via Klarna, the refund will be processed through Klarna, and the same applies for Swish. If you haven't heard anything about your return within 14 days, please contact us and we will look into it.

Does it cost to return a product?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer free returns at this time, so a fee of 49 SEK will be deducted for a registered return from Sweden. If you, as a customer, have a cheaper shipping method, you are very welcome to use your own agreement or similar.

My item was damaged, what should I do now?

Oh, that's unfortunate, but unfortunately, it sometimes happens that our products get damaged during transport.

If you receive a damaged item, please contact us as soon as possible with information and photos of the damage. This allows us to replace the damaged item as quickly as possible and to file a claim with our shipping company.
