About the updated industry regulations – Sweden, January 2026
From January 2026, updated Swedish industry regulations for water-safe kitchens apply. This means that traditional passive protection, such as floor trays and drip guards, is no longer sufficient on its own and must be complemented with an active solution, such as a water alarm.
The regulations apply to new construction, kitchen renovations, and replacement of water-connected appliances or kitchen taps. To ensure that insurance coverage applies, installations must comply with these Swedish industry regulations.
