Measure the screw spacing

For a straightforward replacement, measure from the centre of one screw hole to the centre of the other. Choose the same centre-to-centre measurement as your current handles. Check the overall length and projection as well, especially on narrow doors and adjacent drawers.

Metal handles are available in black, brass, chrome, nickel and steel-look finishes. Wooden handles provide a softer, natural appearance. Consider how the finish coordinates with taps, appliances and other visible fittings.

Match the handle to the cabinet front

Longer handles are practical on wide drawers and tall pantry doors. Smaller handles and knobs suit compact fronts. On existing kitchens, verify that the new handle covers the old fixing marks before ordering.
